The First Look
My absolute favorite part of the day was the first look. I couldn’t get Chris to turn around at first, and the moment he did there was nothing there but the love that we have for each other. It was a completely unique and incredible moment that we will both cherish forever.
Wedding Day Fashion
Brittany’s beautiful beaded ivory
ball gown was a gift from her sister,
and her veil a gift from her best friend.
How sweet is that??
Attached to the inside of Brittany’s
dress was one of Chris’ Army name
tags, a surprise for him to find later on.
The couple customized their big day with small personal touches, such as Brittany’s personalized rhinestone reception flats and their adorable embroidered handkerchiefs.
Chris opted for a grey suit,
white shirt and tie, and pink
paisley pocket square.
Underneath his suit? A pair of
fabulous pink suspenders.
For Bridesmaids dresses, Brittany selected a mix of styles from David’s Bridal. The bridal party flowers came from Kukka Flowers, a DIY wedding flower service that allows you to arrange your own bouquet!
Both the wedding and the reception were held at the gorgeous Evergreen Island, a reception facility in Tulare, California.
Chris and Brittany added a
personal touch to their big
moment with personalized vows
and a ceremony script that
they wrote together.
We started with light pink and grey, and eventually incorporated a lot of white as well. The venue was so beautiful with all of the greenery that we didn’t want to have too much. We wanted all of our guests to have fun, be comfortable, and have great food.
Because their bridal party lived within 5 hours of them, Chris and Brittany chose to DIY most of their wedding decor, including hand punching and assembling all of the paper flower displays on every table.
Our Advice for Wedding Planners
Make it about you. Try not to think too much about everyone else. The entire day felt like I was kind of being pushed and pulled. Take time for you and your new husband. Stick to your budget as much as possible. There were a lot of little extras that I thought were vital, and I think that I was the only one who noticed some of them. We are 6 years, 1 kid and one on the way into our relationship. My marriage advice would be to be best friends. Make one another a priority and make sure you both know it and show it often.
