The First Look
On their 7 year anniversary the two took a mini road trip up the west coast to celebrate and stopped at a small beach on their way back. Rachel apparently made the proposal difficult on Ian by not standing still long enough for him to get down on one knee and propose, but after a few tries he finally succeeded.
All of the feels!! Rachel also shared a sweet first look moment with her Father.
Rachel shares: We knew right away that we wanted to get married outside, it was just a matter of finding a venue that fit our budget. We chose Blacklake (Golf Resort in Nipomo, CA) based on the cost and the potential that we saw in it. Un-decorated it doesn’t look like much, but we were able to transform it into something truly magical.
The couple used floral elements sparingly to cut costs, and looked for anything they could DIY. They made all of the table numbers themselves and brought the season into the decor with autumn leaves and pumpkins scattered around the reception, achieving their desired romantic, classic, and fitting for fall feel.
Processional: Marry Me – Train

Our Advice for Wedding Planners
Work together to make decisions, it shouldn’t just be one person planning.
Rachel shares… We had a method: I would come up with 3-5 ideas that I liked, show them to Ian, and then he chose which one he liked best. We used this method to decide on the color scheme, the invitations, the centerpieces, it worked amazingly and let both of us have a say.
